Include/Squad Jobs Board — Inclusive Tech Hiring

Include/Squad is a mission-driven jobs platform built to connect LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC talent with truly inclusive roles. I led UX/UI across research, wireframing, and high-fidelity prototyping—focusing on accessibility, trust, and ease. The result is a community-forward experience that helps people find the right role faster and helps partners post jobs with confidence.

Research and discovery phase

Lead with community, validate with data
  • Audit of prior research: Reviewed user interviews & notes completed by the previous designer; consolidated themes, gaps, and open questions into a fresh research plan.
  • Interviews (top-up): 8 follow-up conversations with candidates + 4 partner orgs to confirm priorities and address gaps from the initial round.
  • Key needs: Pay transparency, transparent benefits (health, leave, ERGs, remote policy), and verified listings to reduce risk for candidates.
  • Trust signals: Clearly labeled industry, role, and level tags on each listing; visible verification badge for vetted employers.
  • Insights: Candidates scan signals before details—comp band, benefits, and verification drive clicks; partners want fast, low-friction posting with preview.
  • Constraints: Mobile-first, AA accessibility, and an efficient partner workflow.
  • Initial design exploration

    Reduce friction, surface signals

Early wires focused on clarity in search and trust in role cards.

    • Identity-conscious filters: Remote policy, inclusive benefits, ERGs, pay transparency.
    • Card cadence: Short summaries + badges; details on demand in drawer modal.
    • Partner flow: Guided job-post steps with inline validation and preview.
    • Tone & palette: High contrast with calm neutrals for sustained scanning.
